ART AND CONTEMPORARY INDIAN REALITY: THE QUEST FOR A SECOND INDIAN RENAISSANCE.
The constitution of India guarantees the freedom of speech and expression, needless to say, that it includes freedom of artistic expression as well. However, the contemporary reality in India is that the freedom of artistic expression has been curtailed due to violent resistance from forces inimical to it. Art, literature, and theatre have contributed to the country’s fight against colonialism and in taking forward the ideals of the Indian Renaissance.
