Born in Kollam in 1947, P N Prakash now lives in Thrissur. After acquiring a postgraduate degree in English language and literature, he began his professional life as a lecturer at Vivekananda College, Kanyakumari, in 1968. Later he taught English in Malaysia and Alagappa College, Karaikudi before joining the collegiate service in Kerala at Govt Brennan College, Tellicherry in 1972.

He taught at Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam, Sanskrit College, Pattambi, And Govt College, Thrissur, before retiring as Principal, Govt College Koyilandy in 2003.

PN Prakash was a member of the Calicut University Senate for two terms (1994-2002) and a member of the Syndicate from 1998-2001. Primarily an academician, drama and painting have been his major areas of interest throughout his career. Since his retirement, he has been closely associated with various theatre activities in Thrissur, chiefly with Rangachetana. He edited the International Theatre Festival Book in 2008, 09 and 10, and the theatre special of Darshi, a magazine on theatre, film and painting. P N Prakash regularly gives lectures and writes articles on drama and theatre. He is also the founder president of the Centre for English Studies and Research, Thrissur.
